ABC's recent revival of Dirty Dancing proves that just about anything is game for a reboot—whether you want one or not. But if The CW's beloved series Gossip Girl gets its turn again on the small screen, there's one star who won't be back on the Upper East Side: Ed Westwick a.k.a. Chuck Bass.
Sorry to disappoint the droves of Gossip Girl fans everywhere, but Ed immediately shot down the idea of a potential reunion when asked about it by the Radio Times. "Nah, that's not gonna happen," he said. "I know there's a bunch of them coming back—I hear they're doing Will & Grace, they've done Gilmore Girls...But it's such a strange thing to think about. It feels like we only just finished! I did so much with that character—it’s played out, man. It’s done."
To be fair, the series did take its final bow fairly recently: Gossip Girl's finale aired just over four years ago in December 2012, after six seasons (long enough for everyone to miss it, but too soon for true nostalgia to set in). Plus, Gossip Girl's creators, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, are already too tied up working on a new show for The CW—a reboot of the iconic '80s soap Dynasty—to dedicate time to any sort of revival. Without Chuck Bass and the creative duo onboard, the chances of a reunion look bleak.
There is one person who is behind the idea of a comeback, though: Serena van der Woodsen, Blake Lively. "I don't know. Why not?" she previously told Variety about the possibility of a revival. "I've just learned in life you never say never."
There was only one exception for Ed: If Netflix decides to throw a lot of money at a revival series. "I'll do it then," the actor said. Of course, Chuck Bass would do it for the money.
