When you're a celebrity and you've been asked to walk a red carpet, heels are practically a prerequisite—just look at the ladies who walked the Cannes 2017 red carpet recently—but not for Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, who wore flats to the premiere of her new film. Better to kick ass in, no?

At the premiere Thursday night, Gadot stepped out in a powerful (and, perhaps, symbolically bold) red, floor-grazing dress from Givenchy, complete with sequins, cutouts, and all the embellishments you would dream of in a couture gown. But Gadot, true to her superhero status, chose to pair her gown with gilded gladiator sandals. But what's even more amazing is that they're not billion-dollar sandals, either; rather, the gold sandals are just $50 at Aldo. (You can shop them here. If gold isn't your color, the sandals come in four more shades, too, including rose and black.)

On the carpet, the mom of two was asked by Variety about her shoe choice, and her response was perfect. "It's more comfortable! That's it," Gadot said.

It turns out, though, that Wonder Woman didn't bust out flats for the first time on this red carpet; rather, she's been wearing different styles of the fashionable and functional shoes throughout her press tour. Recently, she's been seen wearing fresh-to-death, slip-on white sneakers as well as black patent leather flats, Cosmo reports. Considering how much better flats are for your feet, both in immediate ouch factor and, in the long run, in terms of bodily harm, it's no surprise that Gal Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman—she's a true superhero on her fashion smarts alone.
