Forget skin-tight silhouettes, micro hemlines and sheer fabrications, the performer made her signature baggy fits work for club hopping by blinging them out to the max.
All those crystals require deftness when it comes to styling. Rihanna stuck to the silver theme for her accessories but kept her glam to a minimum. Loose, undone waves (pre-Raphaelite curls are quickly becoming a breakout 2022 beauty trend) and Gloss Bombed lips were all she needed to make an impact and…shine bright like a diamond.
That’s not to say Rih can’t be tempted by a minidress. This is the woman who spent her maternity leave in super-short Saint Laurent skirts and Jacquie Aiche body jewelry—she loves a Magda Butrym or The Attico party piece as much as the next It girl. But she also likes to keep us guessing. Already this festive season we’ve seen her do drinks in West Hollywood in a Balenciaga x Adidas padded bathrobe and pantaboots and set pulses racing on Instagram in Savage x Fenty’s latest corsetry. Don’t expect a repeat of yesterday’s gemstoned look.
While The Navy will be taking clues for what to expect from the singer’s career-defining Super Bowl performance in February, we should anticipate a handful of fashion flirtations before then. Since announcing the show and releasing new music, we’ve witnessed a vintage soccer shirt phase, a red-carpet comeback in directional Rick Owens and several archive throwbacks courtesy of her increasingly rare archive. Come 2023, we could see a new reinvention of Rihanna entirely.
