Was anyone else thoroughly confused by Kanye West's speech at the 2016 MTV VMAs? Or just me?

The MTV Video Music Awards granted Mr. West four minutes to do whatever he wanted on stage, and he definitely took the show up on its offer. Because, quite literally, no one knows what happened.

The speech started out in classic West fashion. He introduced himself (as if we didn't know who he was) and said, "I came here to present my new video, but before I do that, I'mma talk."

Which was an epic understatement. West used the time to touch on serious issues, including shootings of people of color in cities like Chicago. "If you feel like you're seeing people die right next to you, you'll think, 'What's the point [of trying]?'"

But then he also spilled some serious tea, calling out the Taylor Swift "Famous" debacle ("That's why I called her!") and Amber Rose ("I see you Amber!").

West even referenced his infamous Swift mic-stealing moment from 2009, saying, "Later tonight, 'Famous' might lose to Beyoncé, but I can't be mad. I'm always wishing for Beyoncé to win." Aren't we all, though? But the most bonkers part of his speech was when West referenced his many role models, including Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, and—you guessed it—himself.

"I’m standing in front of my idol, Puff Daddy," West said. "I’m standing in front of my wife, Kim Kardashian. I’m standing in front of the future, Chance the Rapper."

When spelled out, West's speech seemed pretty straightforward. However, he delivered it in such a bizarre fashion that it left everyone scratching their heads (but loving every second of it).

And the delightful confusion continued with the premiere of West's video "Fade," which featured Teyana Taylor dancing her butt off in a sweaty gym before cooling off by way of shower sex with a fine hunk of man. It ended with Taylor and her hottie styled as sheep surrounded by dozens of actual sheep. Again, what?!

West, I have no idea what you did tonight, but it was iconic. Take all of my money.
