2015 isn't over quite yet, but the numbers are already in for the biggest songs and artists of the year. Spotify just released its results for the most streamed artists and songs around the world, and the data is enlightening about where music is heading for 2016. Basically: hip-hop, rap, and EDM continue to dominate the charts. (Although it is important to note that Adele's 25 and Taylor Swift's 1989 aren't available on Spotify—so we don't know how much that could have changed the results had they had been on the streaming service.) The most streamed female artist of 2015 is... Rihanna. Even without premiering a new album in 2015, Rihanna still scored the biggest numbers globally with over 1 billion streams and 57 million listeners. In the United States, Nicki Minaj was the most popular.

The most streams in a single day... Justin Bieber, of course. His new album Purpose was released on November 13 and scored the most single streams in a single day of all time: 36 million.

The most streamed song of 2015 is... "Lean On (featuring MØ and DJ Snake)" by Major Lazer. Spotify users listened to the song over 540 million times this year. (I'm not surprised—I'm fairly certain I contributed at least 500 million of those listens myself.) The song is now also the most streamed song of ALL TIME on Spotify, so congrats, Major Lazer! The top track in the United States was "Trap Queen" by Fetty Wap.

The most streamed album of 2015 is... Beauty Behind the Madness by the Weeknd. Yaaaasssss! It had 60 million listeners. (Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late scored the No. 2 spot globally but was the top spot in the United States.)

The most streamed artist of all time is... Ed Sheeran! Wow: He has 3 billion streams to date and over 59 million listeners this year.

The breakout artist of 2015 is... Kygo. Get to know the Norwegian DJ and producer with hits "Firestone" and "Stole the Show."

The most viral song of 2015 is... "Sugar (featuring Francesco Yates)" by Robin Schulz. The song appeared on Spotify's Viral 50 chart 55 times this year. Drake's "Hotline Bling" came in at number two for most viral. In the United States, Alessia Cara's "Here" was the most viral.

The most popular playlist is... Spotify's Today's Top Hits. The playlist scored close to 70 million hours of listening.
