We're still not over our outrage at how the Stanford rape case turned out (and probably never will be), so we were extra horrified to learned that a similar outcome occurred in another case of sexual assault just recently. David Becker, a high school senior from East Longmeadow, Mass., and reportedly a "star athlete," received just two years of probation after being charged with assaulting two unconscious classmates at a house party back in April.

“He can now look forward to a productive life without being burdened with the stigma of having to register as a sex offender,” Becker’s attorney, Thomas Rooke, said in a statement following the decision.

According to Mass Live, court documents reveal that the victims were assaulted when they stayed after the party to help clean up. Both woke up to Becker assaulting them, and both told their friends about the incident afterward. Police learned of the assault from rumors circulating in the high school. The police report also states that "Victim 1 stated that she had heard that in the past Mr. Becker had done this to other girls and that his friends sometimes refer to him as 'David the Rapist.'"

Hampden County Assistant District Attorney Eileen M. Sears reportedly recommended that Becker receive two years in prison, which makes the terms of his probation all the more shocking.

According to court documents, "He must remain drug and alcohol-free, submit to an evaluation for sex offender treatment and stay away from the two 18-year old victims. ... He will not have to register as a sex offender, and no conviction will appear on his record, as long as he complies with the conditions of probation."

Becker was reportedly set to attend University of Dayton in Ohio this fall, but a spokeswoman told Mass Live that he will not matriculate there.

This comes after a California rape case in June received national attention when a letter written by the victim detailing her brutal assault and how it impacted her life since went viral. Her rapist, Stanford swimmer Brock Turner, was only sentenced to mere months in prison, a decision which has led to a campaign to recall the judge on the case, Aaron Persky.
