Let's recap: After Bey sang about being cheated on with a woman with "good hair," the Beyhive immediately jumped to the conclusion that it had to be Roy. Why? They pointed to past rumors of Roy and Jay Z having a fling and that Roy posted this comment—that has since been deleted—on Instagram: "Good hair don't care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light #NoDramaQueens." The Beyhive soon went after Roy on social media—even mistaking her for chef Rachael Ray in the frenzy. Whoops.

The Beyhive was so intense, Roy tweeted to try to get the fans to back off: "I respect love, marriages, families, and strength. What shouldn't be tolerated by anyone, no matter what, is bullying, of any kind." And she is now officially speaking out about that Instagram post, the harassment she's received (as well as her daughters), and putting to rest once and for all that she is not Becky.

"I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest," she said in a statement to People. "My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors. Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother–and I know many mothers would agree—I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable. I would hope that the media sees the real issue here–the issue of cyberbullying—and how it should not be tolerated by anyone."

We agree: Threats to Roy's daughters should never be tolerated, no matter the situation. Hopefully Roy can finally start to put this behind her. And the Beyhive has already set its sights on another rumored "Becky": Rita Ora. After she posted a photo on her Snapchat wearing a sheer bra with lemons on it and a "J" pendant around her neck, some took it as a nod from Ora to the lyrics. But Ora insists she has nothing but love for Beyoncé:

Here's what we do know: Whoever Becky is—and it's entirely possible that she's fictional—cyberbullying and death threats are never the answer.
