Britney Spears and her sister are in a time of crisis as Jamie Lynn's daughter, eight-year-old Maddie, remains in critical condition following an ATV accident. The usually private pop artist is even turning to her fans for their support.

After it was reported that Spears' niece crashed into a pond on the family's Louisiana property, the singer took to Twitter to ask her fans to keep Maddie in their thoughts. "Need all the wishes and prayers for my niece," Spears posted, along with an adorable photo of Maddie—the spitting image of her mother—and her niece's family dog. Spears didn't comment on the accident, which allegedly took place as Maddie veered off into a pond while steering around a nearby drainage ditch. "The child was trapped and secured by the seatbelt and the ATV's safety netting," the police report reads, as ET reports. "Within two minutes Acadian Ambulance Services arrived and assisted in freeing the child from the cold waters."

Spears doesn't often open up on social media, as her Twitter and Instagram accounts largely consist of photos and videos of the Las Vegas residency star in professional mode. Occasionally, however, she shares photos of her two sons or her younger sister. "When I'm with my sister, she makes my stomach hurt so bad from laughing," she recently tweeted.

Hopefully, Maddie will make a speedy recovery and the two sisters will be laughing again soon.
