Less than a week after students around the country walked out of classrooms to protest gun violence, the U.S. experienced yet another school shooting, this time at Great Mills High School in Maryland. Following Tuesday morning's attack, which left two students injured, students from Parkland, Florida — the site of last month's deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School — took to Twitter to support the students of Great Mills and reiterate their calls for stricter gun legislation.

Emma González was among those Parkland students who spoke out on Tuesday. "We are Here for you, students of Great Mills 💗 together we can stop this from ever happening again," she tweeted. Jaclyn Corin, another Stoneman Douglas student, tweeted about the sad irony of Great Mills students' joining last week's walkout and then becoming victims of gun violence themselves. "Less than a WEEK ago Great Mills High School students walked out with us to protest gun violence...now they're experiencing it for themselves. The state of our country is disgusting - I'm so sorry, Great Mills," she wrote.

Several Parkland students also reminded their followers to join this Saturday's worldwide March for Our Lives, while even more called on legislators to take action against gun violence. "We are begging for our lives and politicians continue to ignore us. This is on their hands. This is what happens when we beg for common sense gun laws and you don't listen. DO SOMETHING INSTEAD OF JUST SITTING IN YOUR FANCY CHAIRS!" Sarah Chadwick tweeted.

According to NBC 4 Washington, an armed Great Mills student opened fire in a hallway just before classes started on Tuesday around 7:45 a.m. A 16-year-old female student and 14-year-old male student were both shot and transported to local hospitals, and are in critical and stable condition, respectively. CNN reports that the shooter, 17, was later pronounced dead after a brief shootout with the school's resource officer.
