In case the lyrics to her new single, "Malibu," weren't clear enough, Miley Cyrus wants to make sure the world knows that Liam Hemsworth is, in fact, her song-spiration. On Wednesday, July 26, the 24-year-old singer posted a photo of herself in a dark room, sitting on a bed, playing guitar along with the caption, "Seems all I can do... is write songs about YOU... ❤️ 🎼 ❤️ 🎼 ❤️ 🎼."
Since Miley and Liam reunited last year, the pair has been incredibly candid — both with the press and on social media — about their relationship. In a recent interview with Billboard, Miley confirmed that the dreamy ballad "Malibu" was written about her off-and-on fiancé. "They’re going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam," she explained. "So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, 'This is how I feel'?"
In the same interview, Miley went on to explain why things are different this time around than they were the first time she and Liam were engaged in 2013. "I needed to change so much," she noted. "And changing with someone else not changing like that is too hard. Suddenly you’re like, 'I don’t recognize you anymore.' We had to refall for each other."
If social media is to be believed, they have certainly refallen — and hard. With all of the Insta-love going on on both of their accounts, it's as if Miley and Liam are trying to make up for lost time. Between the romantic couple's selfies, the "Hey, look how hot my boyfriend is" solo shots, and the so-cute-its-almost-hard-to-handle sing-alongs, these days the on-and-off couple is very, very much on.
...Which hopefully means more "Malibu"-like love songs for fans.
