There are so many highlighters out in the universe right now it's blinding—and, to be honest, hard to tell a lot of them apart. (Or find one that doesn't involve the word unicorn.) It takes a special product to stand out from the shimmer that not only looks fantastic on a diverse range of skin tones but that's also hyper-accessible. Enter E.L.F.'s latest addition to its Baked Highlighter line, which hits shelves today and was created to do exactly that.

Shockingly, the E.L.F. Apricot Glow Baked Highlighter is the first new highlighter the brand has created in six years. We know, odd considering the huge surge in popularity of strobing products recently. The reason for the launch? You can thank folks like yourself. According to E.L.F. global artistic director Achelle Richards-Dunaway, fans directly requested an apricot color. The brand was game to supply what the people wanted since it's been working to make more products that cater to different skin tones. "We felt this was the perfect color to round out the assortment," Ellie Off, cosmetics vice president of innovation, told us.

It makes sense. The golden flecks and peachy hue bring out radiance in both cool and warm undertones. And the greatest part? It's only $4. But seeing is believing, so we decided to find out if this new highlighter lives up to the hype. Here, a few Glamour staffers put it to the test.

Emily Kemp

Erin Reimel, beauty assistant: "I tend to wear colorful lipstick most days, and, since my skin is so fair, I try to avoid highlighters that are too in-your-face. But this one spoke to me. I love that it warms up my light complexion, almost like a blush or a bronzer, so I'm wearing it on the apples of my cheeks."

Kelsey Lafferty, bookings & fashion news assistant: "I don't typically wear a lot of makeup, I just apply a BB cream and brush my eyebrows. Otherwise, I prefer to go natural, so I didn’t expect to like this. I normally shy away from anything too glittery, but this is subtle with really pretty gold undertones. I definitely see myself wearing it for special occasions when I want to give my look a little extra pop."

Smriti Sinha, social media manager: "I love makeup, but I don't think I would've picked this out myself. Seeing how glowy it makes my skin, though, I'm excited to wear it this summer when I want to get ready without putting in too much effort."

Anastasia Walker, associate fashion editor: "I love to wear highlighter—something with warm golden tones to give a little dimension to my skin tone. This one is amazing because it makes me look totally sun-kissed!"

Jenae Holloway, special projects: "I don't normally wear highlighter because I actually don't know how to apply it to make it look natural. But this golden tone blended right into my skin. I'll for sure be wearing this during the summer now. It gives my brown skin a natural highlight and would look great when I wear less makeup but still want to look put together."

Overall Consensus: Buy it.
