For the past three decades, Glamour has honored trailblazers, record breakers, and champions with our annual Women of the Year award. Whether an Oscar winner, a Nobel laureate, or a highly decorated Olympic gold medalist, each honoree has, in her own way, defined the moment we’re living in, often overcoming obstacles with remarkable grace. Our 2020 winners are no exception—but the year in which they dominated has been an exceptional one. We faced a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, confronted an overdue (and ongoing) reckoning with racial injustice, and somehow kept track of who needed to log on to which Zoom when. This special group of Women of the Year rose up to meet unfathomable challenges—with determination, wit, resilience, and the unshakable belief that we can and must do better.
