When It Comes to Summer Travel Style, All-White Is the New All-Black

What do you want in a great travel outfit? Ease (see: 5am flights), comfort, something that you know will still look good after several hours spent crumpled into a teeny-tiny seat. For a long time, that meant a uniform of head-to-toe black and other dark colors. Maybe black leggings and a gray cashmere sweater, or dark-blue skinny jeans and a black band tee. And while not much has changed in terms what pieces we’re reaching for (sorry ladies, pillbox hats aren’t back just yet), we have noticed one bright spot in the airport-style game: the proliferation of head-to-toe white.

Sure, you run the risk of not being able to hid a tomato-juice spill when you pull this move but, darn, does it breathe some fresh air into the modern girl’s travel uniform. From wide-leg jeans to boho dresses, all white says “refreshed!” instead of basic black’s “depressed!”

And when it comes to getting your white outfit dirty, we think that’s worth risking a stain for—especially when you’re expecting someone special at the arrivals gate. You might not be greeted by a swarm of paparazzi like Gwyneth Paltrow, but that doesn’t mean you don’t occasionally want to look picture-perfect when you land at your destination, right?
